junkin' monday ... and ...

i'm not sure if Clara and Marcela are hosting a "junkin' monday" this week ...
but i am celebrating anyway ... on thursday, i had a very special junkin' day:
not because of what i found ... but rather who i was with when i found what i
did ... i had the great pleasure of meeting up with Marilee as she was making
her way down Ohio to visit her friend in Columbus ... Marilee was also playing
Santa Claus, as she arrived bearing my Christmas present ... {but that is for
another post} ... Marilee and i met for lunch in a lovely tea room and then we
headed over to a wonderful antique shop that Marilee knew about from past
trips to Ohio ... there i found: a sweet shabby french book, a quartet of buckles,
and a pin~cushion doll that i am having a love/hate relationship with ... on one
hand, she is filthy beyond belief ... and yet i find her charming somehow ... if
anyone has a tip about cleaning her up, i would appreciate that greatly ...

Marilee brought me the sweetest gifts ... she knows the way to my heart ...

isn't the handkerchief monogrammed with my initial so very beautiful?

if you are going to Silver Bella, be sure to find your way over to Marilee's
vendor table ... i saw a peek of her wares ... and they are gorgeous ... linens,
laces, and ephemera to die for ... you will love everything ...

now, i want to switch gears here for a minute ... because this morning as i was
making my rounds in google reader, i saw something that made my day ... Tina
from "tiny bear" posted the box she made using my tutorial from "artist class":

isn't it gorgeous? i have to be honest ... doing tutorials is not my favorite thing,
because i tend to fret over the details and question if my instructions are clear
enough for others to follow ... but, when i see a beautiful result like Tina's, well
i can't even tell you how happy that makes me! ... thank you Tina for allowing
me to use your photos ... if you want to see more photos of Tina's box, you can
find that post here ... if you want to join in on the fun at "artist class", that info
can be found here ... use my code for $10 off your enrollment fee ... my code is:

thanks for visiting ... have a great day!!!

ps: i just had word ... junkin' monday is in full swing ... hooray!!!

easy peasy pillows

happy friday to you! ... i wanted to share with you today a really simple idea
for creating pillows that i think are just lovely ... the best part of all is that it
only takes minutes to make your pillows and there is no sewing involved ...
this is not a tutorial per se because i whipped these up a while ago ... and i am
not showing you the step by step ... but, they are so easy you won't need that.

what you do need is:
1} a pack of large sized fancy napkins from tj maxx, tuesday morning, etc
2} fabric glue ... i swear by fabritac
3} pillow inserts/forms
4} rubber bands
5} your choice: ribbons and trims

here are the pillows i made:

for the one in the back, i simply wrapped my pillow form with the napkin ... then
secured it on the sides where it was open and the fabric was overlapped with two
dots of fabric glue ... it doesn't bother me in the slightest that it is still open some~
what ... if that does bother you, then just run a line of fabric glue all down the side
to completely close it off ... don't get too close to the edge with your fabric glue, or
it might ooze out and you will not be happy ...

for the "tootsie roll" pillow, i wrapped my napkin all around my pillow form ...
then secured the ends with rubber bands ... i tied a pretty sheer ribbon over the
rubber bands to hide them ...

to finish the pillows off: i added a pretty rose to the larger pillow and a little
deco clip to the "tootsie roll" ...

now, how easy is that? if you try this please let me know because i want to see
your pillows ... my tutorial is up today for artist class ... if you want to sign up,
here is where you do that ... for a discount of $10 off of your class, use my code:

artist class project

hello! i wanted to show you one of the projects i finished up this morning from
"artist class" ... this was inspired by Tammy Sprinkle's "homage to a loved
one" tutorial ... my "loved one" is the cute little baby Dorothy featured in one
of my favorite cabinet cards ... inscribed across the bottom it reads: "Dorothy
and her Dutchman ~ April of 1900 ... Dorothy is not a relative ... so i had to
make up her story ... and provide her with heirlooms ...

i'm pretty good at making things up ...

it's keeping my stories straight that i sometimes have trouble with ...

just kidding ... i'm a terrible liar ... i blush too much ...

so i don't even try ... not even a little white one ...

that's my story, and i'm stickin' to it ... if you haven't signed up for artist class
yet, and would like to ... you may find the info here ... use my discount code:

to receive a $10 discount off your enrollment fee ... i hope to see you there!

lollishops design team reveal

it was never stated that we had to use all or most of the elements in our design
team kits ... and thank goodness for that ... as i only managed to use two ... a
wee small cottage and a bottle brush tree ...

in an effort to distract you from pondering that ... too much anyway ... i used
lots of shiny things too ... pretty mica flakes ...

oodles of yummy silver tinsel ...

and a delicious coating of sugary glass glitter ...

did it work?

to see what everyone else came up with go here ... design team
supplies were provided by "chocolate letters" on etsy ...

notes from a procrastinator

yep, per usual ... waiting 'til the last possible moment to get things done ... i
have no idea why i do this to myself ... over and over ... it totally stresses me
out ... and yet, i do it all over again the next time a project is due ...

so, i have been scurrying around these last few days working on my sample
project for "artist class" and my project for the "lollishop design team" ...

i am happy to say they are both now finished ... and as soon as i have sent off
my tutorial to Mary, i will breathe a huge sigh of relief ... i wanted to show you
the sample of my project for "artist class" ... a papered, fabric~lined box:
