I was recently asked to do a few pages in a book about friends by Heather Bluhm. I said
yes immediately because Heather was so very nice when I first started my blog and she
has a special place in my heart because of that kindness to me. I have to be honest and
tell you that when the book arrived at my house I was totally intimidated by the lovely
work done in the book by the girls who had it first.
So ... I put it aside for about a week. Then one morning: I donned my big girl pants {they
are getting a lot of use lately}, gathered all of my favorite bits and bobs, and started on
my first page. This page is about being a friend to yourself. I don't know about you, but I

I think the coolest thing about these books is that you can see the trims and such from
other pages peeking through. It looks so pretty to me:

Here's the funny thing: once I got started on this I didn't want to stop. I had so many
ideas, and seriously I think I could have filled the rest of the book. It's good to challenge
yourself and try something new. I finished all three of my pages the first day. I will show
you the other two pages in a few days, I hope you will stop back over. Thanks for being
here today:)

Hi Lori,
So stunning...I love it! You did such fantastic, creative, gorgeous work!
I tell myself all the time to put my "big girl pants on"! And I loved what you said "You really have to be a friend to your
own self before you have anything to give to others". Beautiful words to live by!!
Hugs,
Karyn
Beautiful Work, I love the colors you used.
Cannot wait to see more!
Hugs, Diane
Hi Lori. I totally get the intimidation factor. Being able to interact with so many established and talented artists can really be scary. (For me anyway.) But we learn and grow and become better through the challenges that are created for us. Your page is lovely. I'm sure the other talented artists will think so to. I hope someday to participate in something that wonderful. On another note... would you consider joining my Where Bloggers Create party? I think you would be a fabulous addition to the guest list.
Have a great night and thanks for coming by to visit me. I'm glad I found your blog.

Wow Lori, those big girl pants really do the trick. This is such a lovely page and I can't wait to see the other two. I love coming here and being inspired every time.

Your page is really really beautiful Lori. Love that blue ledger pager in the back.
This page is lovely. I cannot wait to see more.
Being a friend of yourself shouldn't be too difficult in your case Lori! No kidding, I know what you mean. I think you have to be patient. The older one gets the easier this aspect of life becomes and the more one comes to the essence, I think. I feel like I'm 105 now I'm writing this, but this is how I feel. When I turned 40 I felt horrible. What did I accomplish? (And a million other of such questions) and not only that, I should be in a hurry. Everybody knows that the second half always goes faster. Was I using time right? I don't know when and how but suddenly somehow a lot of those questions were not that important anymore. Being a friend stayed an important issue though, being a friend of the person who you are too. Hope this helps and that you cannot wait to be 47 hehehe!
I adore what you've done, Lori. So beautiful and sweet and pretty. Boy, those "big girl pants" are great, aren't they?!! Do show the rest of your pages.
